Overall: 6/10
This game starts out well, with some impressive aerial dogfight missions. Unfortunately, both the graphics and gameplay start to suffer as missions become more ground-based. The VFs themselves are generally rendered quite nicely and have some cool transformation animations; however, the Battroid and Gerwalk modes lack significant gameplay value in the air, and they don\'t really feel integrated into the game. This doesn\'t really become an issue until the ground missions, when you become dependent on their awkward control schemes. Graphics take a serious hit on these missions as well; the environments look pretty bad, and can be somewhat restrictive. It\'s interesting that they decided to set this game in its own unique post-Macross-Plus story instead of mirroring the anime. I can\'t really comment on the story since I don\'t speak Japanese. Sounds are decent for the most part, except for the VF\'s machine gun, which is an extremely annoying \"ping-ping-ping\" kind of noise... Anyway, the free-flying missions in the air and space are quite fun, so this game does have some value.
